theres a guy in next town getting rid of his Rangers 4x4 Front end for serious cheap.. parting out the whole thing.. How do I tell if the Front End is a True d35 set up? He doesnt know any thing about cars at all so its all up to me to determine what gears are in the front/rear and if its a d35 like what we use

You can find out the gearing from this axle code chart.

Other than that, I would personally just crawl under my explorer and look at the D35, then crawl under the ranger and look at it. More often than not it should be a D35 unless it was changed. I do not hold much knowledge regarding rangers, but considering an explorer is similar, the parts and axles should be as well.

I know from crawling under my explorer what a D35 looks like, been down there way to many times to count. I would honestly expect every explorer owner who works on his or own vehicle to be able to do the same.

Also, I do not mean to be insulting by my last comment. It's just my own personal opinion, please take no offense to it.

...The true Dana 35 is stronger..

...The Hybrid is the old Dana 28 gears and stubs (special for this application) while everything else is a true Dana 35...;)

why i was asking.. i need to re-gear but dont have the 1500+, but have a chance to get a rear 4.10 w/ disc for the ex and then this ranger came open but i gotta make sure i can just put the axle etc off and throw on mine. then i would have re-geared to 4.10 for 250 total.

..What year Ranger and what motor?

...I still think an X 8.8 rear w/ disc swap would be best..Rangers tend to have a shorter rear end from 1" to 3" per side...

the rear is coming from a friend wrecked ex w/ disc, im just looking at this rangers front because then i could run 4.10 for way less then what i expected, im waiting on the guy to contact me back about year and motor in the ranger

edit: 89 w/ a 302 stang motor dropped in

...a 89 Ranger would have a Dana 28 in it stock...

...Pumpkin is smaller like the hybrid mentioned earlier plus the beams and such would be different unless by some chance they also swapped in the Dana 35...:dunno:
