Axle Spindle Compatibility?

I own a 91 Eddie Bauer Explorer, and today I pulled an axle spindle from a 94 XLT Explorer in the local salvage yard.


They look a little different, the 94 Spindle has a slot for ABS, but they looked similar enough that I pulled it anyway.
Are there any major Spindle problems between 91 and 94?

No difference, except that abs cut out. Did you pull both off the 94? Good to have a spare as they are somewhat hard to find now.

I would have but the whole diff and driver's side knuckle was already taken.
Pretty excited to have gotten one in my local yard. Thanks for your response

Same spindle 89-96 for that Dana 35 ttb
After 94 they had cutout for the 4wabs sensor it won’t hurt anything

They are getting harder to find especially with good threads

I priced a new one about 8 years ago and it was over $300 if you can even buy them anymore. Needless to say I then collected “ a few” from the yards as my beloved 88 bronco ii uses those

Fun tip when you install the spindle grease the spindle bearing and clean the seal
Also mount the spindle so the groove faces upwards, makes installation of the spindle nut lock ring washer much easier
