B&M 80277 Universal Remote Transmission Filter Kit

Check out this thread.I read through it a while ago. Some one cut one open but I can't remember what page it's on. I was suprised at what it actually caught makes a good case to install one.

no (direct) pictures of a filter that had a filter-mag.

I didn't follow all the links though; but no working pics that were in the posts.

The more I look around, the kit that has really caught my eye is Derale 13091. I like how the temp gauge is incorporated into the design.

Are you guys installing the filter on the cooling line, or the return line?

Hot line, before the coolers.

Also, I run the temp gauge in the pan since that is the fluid that will run into the trans.

Any reason for placing the filter in the cooling line, as opposed to the return line which goes from the cooler back to the tranny?

My half-arsed thought was that the fluid would be hotter, so it would be thinner, so it would get through the filter easier.

No idea if my logic is sound.. But that guy at the holiday in express liked it :)

I was thinking that if I put it on the return line, then the fluid would be cleaner going back into the tranny.

it gets filtered, regardless of where the filter is installed.

I highly doubt the transmission would be getting "cleaner" fluid if it was installed in one spot versus another. It all gets filtered, so will all be clean.

Having the fluid go through the filter then the cooler or through the cooler first and then the filter won't change how clean the fluid is by the time it gets to the trans.

If you run it through the filter first I guess you would also have cleaner fluid going through the coolers. I wasn't thinking about that when I did it, but it does sound like an extra bonus if the filter is first.

I have a steel line going from the transmission to the radiator. I also have trans cooler that is hooked up with rubber hoses. That is why I want to run the filter after the trans cooler. It is easier to cut into the rubber hoses than it is to cut into the steel line.

BUMPBUMP

Has anyone installed the Derale 13091 kit with temp gauge? will it fit FL1a filters also?
Wich is the supply and with is the return line? Thanks

HA! They don't even tell you in the instructions which is which!

I'd say the hole that is closet to the center is the pre-filtered line and the outer is the post-filtered side.

I do know that a Amsoil EaO 15 Filter fits the Derale kit. They list a couple others filters in the instructions, you'll just have to cross reference to find which Ford filter to use.
