For some reason my truck has always done very poor on gas, worse than other trucks with the same setu. hell, my friend has a fullsize chevy with 33's and a v8 and gets better mpg than i do with the 6. The plugs are good, never checked the wires, got a kkm intake, flowmaster system, tho im not sure about the condition of the cat. Superlift is really killin things for me now as well, im considering taking the bl off for some less wind resistance. Anyways, any ideas on what the problem may be, i just have a feeling that there is something that is killing my milage. Oh and i run a bottle of efi cleaner through it once a month. Other specs, 3.73 gears, 4x4, 33's, 10" overall lift, 2nd gen ohv. Right now im guessing i get around 7-8,mpg, i havent had the lift in long enough to figure it out. before i got about 10 with my 33's and 16 with my 30's. Most driving is around 40mph in a town setting. Some highway, no city driving.

My guess would be the 3.73 with 33" tires.

you got a 5.5 lift and a body lift with 33"s?

I bet that thing has to look goofy :p

Either way, your gears are you problem. Plan on 4.56 :D

Engine strain = excessive gas usage.

i knew my gears were a problem, but its worse than what it should of been. or so i think. Im still leaning on 4.10's but does anyone know if they make 4.30's for the d35rr and 8.8?

Did you reset your ecu after the intake and exhaust? give your motor/ecu a chance to get used to the new parts. How about wires? ignition coil?

You're really going to want 4.56's with your setup...

I have never heard of 4.30's for the D35...

are you gonna keep the body lift?

4.56 and 33"s will make ya wanna :burnout:

im not sure, i may i may not. Depends on how it wheels,i have yet to get it on the trails since the lift.

What kind of milage can i expect from my 97 4 litre V8? Just bought it this week.

5.9-8.5 KPL is a safe range. (15-20 MPG city-hwy)

You have either a 4.0L V6, or a 5.0L V8.

Which one?

....doesn't matter REALLY, they both get about 12-17mpg, depending on the driver, and conditions.

I have 4:56 gears 33's and a 5 inch lift. With the auto (A4LD) I got 18-20 mpg @ 65. With the M5OD I get 19-21 at the same speed. No Cat, standard exhaust and a K&M intake.Running 89 octane.

see, someone revives a 6 year old post and all hell breaks loose
