First post here, but have already found this forum to be a great resource. Did some archive searching but couldn't come up with a recommended vendor for lower ball joints and the upper control arm. If I understand correctly, there is one lower ball joint per side, and MOOG seems to be the popular brand. Then we're looking at one upper control arm which houses the ball joint. Right? Any particular brand that stands out? What am I looking at for total cost of the aforementioned parts -- $40 per lower, $100 upper x2 = $280ish? Any other associated parts that I'll need or that I might consider doing "while I'm in there"??
When my mechanic quoted me $460 parts and $450 labor for all front ball joints (upper and lower) with alignment -- I almost choked! That seems really high based on what I've seen here....no? So after finding the awesome FAQs/write-ups -- I shall tackle the job myself.
So, that said, who are your recommended parts vendors? Thanks in advance for your time. [1995 XLT, FWIW.]
