Hey Guys...

Basically I'm looking for something that I can mount on the battery terminal to attach all my mod wires to. I know they exist but I havn't been able to find them. I have 3 sets of light wires, and my 4 guage wire for my amps that I shoved into the space on the factory terminal. What I would like is something that mounts to the battery terminal...then has allen screws to mount the accessory wires and also a post on it to re-attach the factory terminal...

Thanks...

Get a power distro panel. I ran a 4 guage wire from my battery to my distribution panel and ran individual fusable taps to my accessories.

Go to a higher end stereo shop like CarToys. Actually I was at Circuit city the other day and they had some pretty nice ones.

Or you can do it on the cheap like yours truely.
I got a longer battery terminal screw, a couple of extra nuts & washers and now everything is attached without compromising the battery connection.
The longer screw sticks out past the terminal and the light wires are connected there.
Just a thought....

Thanks for the input...

Blee...Did you just use a standard dist block that would be used for amps inside the truck or is there somthing special for under the hood?

Al and Alec...The ones I looked at on crutchfield and circuit city look like I have to cut the factory terminal off the wires...maybe I'm looking at it wrong..any advice?

Bill..your idea sounds tempting considering it can be done for under a buck...any idea what size screw that is?

Yes, most of the higher end battery terminals require that you cut the factory end off and place the factory wires into one of the outlets.

Bill's idea works too, it's just a pain if you ever want to get at that power wire closest in, it also makes it much harder to disco the (+) terminal.

Mine was a special item that I order from a electrical supply shop. It uses the bigger bladed fuses. I placed it in my engine compartment along the driver side firewall. It has 4 spots leftover on it out of 6. I can place any variety of fused ranging from 5 to 30 amp fuses for each connection.

On mine, I just drilled out the threads on the factory terminal and installed an onerly long 1/4-20 screw and nut in place. Lots of room for terminals.

i bought a gold plated terminal from autozone that has two small holes and two large holes for wires. it was like $10 or $20, cant remember.

I used a marine style connector for the battery (the kind with the bolt sticking up).. and then I used ground lugs (found at Home Depot). The ground lugs are what you use for wires in the circuit breaker box of your house. They are aluminum and have a set screw to hold the wire in (big set screw)..

I used a double wire connector for the main wires and a single wire one for the amp (the wire closest in the following picture)..

I then put plasti-dip on it (I used liquid electrical tape on the negative terminal)...

They also have brass connectors (I used them on my starter relay) but I didn't like how they fit on the battery..

Here are the pics.

Ignore the numbers.. that was to show someone how to turn over the engine without using the ignition switch.

Thanks everyone,

I'm thinking the way to go is to cut the factory terminal off and buying a new terminal with allen key set screws.
