Baxter State Park Meet

Jesus.....Forget Friday. Anyone who can't stand a weekend of not showering or shaving care to try finding a hotel nearby? You do own washcloths, right? This is Maine for cryin out loud, not a singles bar..... This is a WHEELING club, not so much a dating club. Jen, if you want to check on your NH site, feel free, but so far Baxter is still planned for Memorial Day. I personally could care less about a couple days' funk.

Sorry I'm citified. I like to smell & look nice all the time. I don't mind getting dirty(hence I fix my own truck & other vehicles) but I just feel as a first trip out while new members get use to one another we might all wanna smell nice & not be animals around each other. Save that for when it's 100 degrees out & we all can't smell each others funk cause we all freakin stink!!!!!

You'll get to smell all pretty in Providence. :D Plus, you'll smell fine the first day and a half, I'm sure. ;)

1st place whining award goes to the NEX!

Having said that I want to go to BAXTER period. It seams like it has lots to do in terms of off-road travel, both by vehicle and foot (you have to remember this isn't a beach trip). I have no problem taking a sponge bath for a few days... Heck sponge bob is GREAT!... The more we deviate from the original plans the more time will pass and the more likely this trip will NOT happen. I'm not disagreeing with anyone, as everyone has had valid ideas and input, but we need to keep our eyes on the ball.

I don't want this thread to turn out like the meet and greet fiasco. As such subsequent trips can be a topic for another thread.

I know I feel it's gotton outta hand too. I will still call my friend's parents to see all the details & get back. Who knows it just might be cheaper in the long run right now for a majority of us.

I dont remember, if I said it or not. I will be going anywhere that the majority of the group wants to go! :D

I agree with John here, as far as the lack of showers, sponge baths are cool, I'll just have to remember to bring washcloth & soap or even better baby wipes which can give a decent sponge bath, I know, when I was in the hospital and confined to bed they used these baby wipe type things for sponge baths and they worked great.

As far as washing my hair, I have short hair and usually wear a hat of some kind when I'm outdoors, so no washing it for a few days won't matter to me

Having said that, I will go with the consensus on where we end up going, since I'm sharing expenses with Jen

No go on NH. My friend's parents will be up there that weekend. I don't have a problem going to Maine but can we get something closer? I'm starting to have a problem thinking bout driving 8hrs. We still have time to get something closer right?

Dan
A couple of questions for you seeing as how you have been there. As for the cabins, I would not mind, (but dont have to) just get a tent site near your cabins for me and the better half. I dont know if they have tent sites near there cabins or not. When I camp I prefer camping outside if at all possible. Also How are they with parking around the sites? If possible (but not necessary) I would like to tow my small trailer up there with all of my gear in it. The type of trailer I am talking about is here:
TWEETERS.jpg

I browsed there website A bit but couldnt find the info I needed. I also know you do not drink so really do not know how strictly they enforce the no alcohol rule so let me ask you this. When your at your site at night, Do the rangers come around on a regular basis to check up on you?
Thanks in advance
JIGA

Jen, if you want, try checking into NH on a different weekend. Doing Baxter on Memorial Day is still on anyways. (Any NH trip was NOT going to be a replacement, remember?) Maybe you can set your bath basin up in jiga's trailer. :D So far I have Matt, Dan, John, "Jiga" and guest, and myself and likely my brother, plus Sandy (possibly dependent on whether or not Jen is in). Who else wants to be game?

I DON'T HAVE A PROBLEM WITH BAXTER!!!!! Can we maybe think of something closer in Maine? I know I would be sharing expenses w/Sandy but an 8hr drive from CT is gonna waste a whole Friday going to & a whole Monday coming back. Remember I don't whine I b*tch.:D

Sorry Jen. I am not understanding. Are you proposing that we can the Baxter trip and go to this place? Pretty much most of us have agreed to go through with the Baxter trip. I am gonna buy a portable shower at a camping supplies store. So I will be all set. I should of thought of it before. When I drove from my place to the cape it was pushing the same time frame of 7 + hours. The name of the game is wheeling and driving. Dont know what else to say.

I looked at this place. We can get 2 cabins side by side that sleep 6 each. $100/weekend each

Only like 4hrs from CT yet near 2 different state parks.

I have not ran this trip by my girlfriend yet. I am sure she will go but if Jen and Sandy do not go then I do not want to subject her to a sausage fest. And will more than likely make the trip on my own. Either way, I will make the trip. Keep me posted when you guys book your cabin(s). And where they are so I can call up there and book the closest tent site available. I sometimes forget about threads, So if you dont hear from me, send me a pm or email me at jiga97xlt@hotmail.com
Also whoever is going to be in charge of setting this up, Let me know and Ill pm you my cell # incase you need any info.
