i was reading something about counter effects on tightening the throttle cable!

On a 1st gen, I know of no bad effects of the throttle cable mod, unless you over-tighten it, obviously. There is no computer controlled throttle on our trucks, so no problem.

Remember, the purpose of the throttle cable mod is to take out the slack...most 1st gen gas pedals can be pushed down 1/4 of an inch and they don't open the throttle body butterfly AT ALL. The whole purpose of the throttle cable mod is to make sure that as soon as you press the gas pedal, the throttle plate begins to open. On most stock 1st gens, that doesn't happen.

well if you have a kick down cable on your gas pedal and you take up too much slack from the throttle cable you could mess it up just a bit, but the good news is the kick down cable is self adjusting at the firewall, so a simple reset of this can get you bakc to A-OKay. Skip the zip ties, I used a piece from a small piece of almuminum tubing and crimped it over the end of the cable, very similar to the factory cable stop.

ok after installing the new bbk tb i was wondering if my TPS was set right and these are the readings i am getting from the voltage meter! the way it was when i put it on the new tb = 3.99 volts. couldn't get a .96 reading on it! took another reading while adjusting the throttle and wide open i get a reading of .34 volts! its like its working backwards? any one know what thats about? and yes i did have it on DC !! lol

Dude, you just posted this in the TPS thread, which apparently you did not read.

Go read the TPS thread, better yet print out the part that tells you how to check the voltage. Go check it on the truck, and try again.

The answers you are looking for have alreayd been covered in the TPS thread, just like they told you over there. You checked the wrong wire

no i didn't~ i may have checked the wrong one but also tried multiple patterns! and the only one that would give me a reading~ the far right wire was the only one that would give a positive read out! i am not an idiot! and i spoke with glacier on this yesterday while i was doing it! but i will go read some more on the Tps. to see what else i can come accross
