Ok, ive had my X for about 4 years now, and love it. I take it offroad ocasionaly but nuthin serious. Looks like i will be finishin school next year (fingers crossed) And should actually have a real job, so i should have some real money to spend and have fun. Always wanted a monster truck. ANyways, what would be the best place to learn about 4wheelin and parts n stuff? I read through most of the posts here, and most of the mags, but still have lots of questions. Basically simple ones but don't want to bog down teh board with FAQ's like whats a locker and why do i need one, whats a dana 40, Y get a differnt t-case, ect. I have a basic idea but want to know more. ANy websites or books that are helpful? thnx. Jiimi

Just run a search on this board, I'm sure other people have asked these questions, and you will probably find the answers to what you are looking for. I've found that boards, like tis one, are the most knowledgeable, due to the amount of people using them, and the vast array of locations everyone comes from.

The best way to learn (I have found) is through other's mistakes and experiences. When you are ready to get serious about off-roading your best bet is to either join a 4wd club in your aera or start hanging out with people who have modified 4wd's (and use them off road). It doesn't matter if they all have Jeeps, Toyotas or fullsize trucks, any knoledge you can get from them will help you in some way or another. You might also swing by any local off road shops every now and then and see what they have brewing in the shop. What ever you do, don't let anyone discourage you from dooing what you want to do. Accept all their suggestions, just don't let their words govern what you want to accomplish.
