Well I did about the dumbest thing I've ever done behind the wheel yesterday. I was coming back from KC around 9 pm and I'd had 2 beers, enough that I was a little tired but not drunk or anything. I drifted off to sleep for about 5 secs and woke up when I heard my sideview mirror being pushed in by the semi trailer I had bumped against. I ended up doing quite well considering how bad and dangerous this was. The mirror was fine and the only other damage is seen if you click the link below. Most of it seems to be rubber from his tire (looks like a NASCAR race ) and there's some paint scratching as well. What do you guys suggest I do to get that area back as close to normal as I can?

Thanks guys (sorry I couldn't post pics directly)
Link to my stupidity

Not an on coming semi right???

WHEW YOU ARE ALIVE...be careful!!

no, it wasn't oncoming, he was just being a dummy and trying to DWI

I agree, semis are scary rigs!!! Try getting rear ended by one. Not a good feeling, glad your ok.

depends. 2 beers quickly on an empty stomach and it could have very well been a stupid DWI even if there was no felt buzz. 2 beers while eating dinner over 2-3 hours is not even close to a DWI. i understand this is a controversial subject, and we all know drinking and driving is one of the most irresponsible things one could do. however, lets give him a chance to explain himself. :)

I've driven sober and super tired just a few minutes home before and it's just as bad as being drunk. Scary to think what could have happened. That was lucky to get off with only a few scratches.

I had two beers over a 4 hour period while eating pizza at the same time. I was not even remotely intoxicated, I was just sleepy after a long day of class and work. And I know I screwed up big, I scared the crap out of myself last night. I was incredibly lucky, I could have died. I'd just like some advice on fixing the marks his tire left on my wheel well.

I woke up when I heard the sideview mirror being pushed in and I slowly pulled back away from the semi. I bumped into the rear set of wheels on the trailer, obviously from the rubber on my truck. I don't think he even noticed because I pulled over and he just kept rolling. Definitely one of the luckiest and scariest moments of my life. And I know that even though I wasn't drunk, I should know how it affects me. I learned from it and it won't happen again. I'm not religious but I'm alive today for some reason. :)

Rubbing Compound should get rid of all the black marks. You do have some slight dent that you need to fill with body filler if you really want to fix it up and, of course, need to get a new paint job after the filler.

Dude, you are one lucky son of a gun. Get a clay bar and rub the rubber off, then use a Swirl Mark Remover and get rid of the scratches.

Rubbins Racin':p

I am guessin' you were at least thirty to fourty mineuts just cleaning the **it stains out of your drawers

Yeah you could say that...
