Ok, Ive got the beloved blend air door that needs to be replaced on my '98 Explorer. Ive already done this to my '99 F-150. It sucked! I pretty much removed the whole dash! I know about the cutting the hole in the bottom of the air box, but is there any other way to get the broken door out?

I got the metal door from heatertreat.com, that is the same one in my truck, very nice door. Im just wondering if there is another trick to getting to the plenum instead of tearing the dash apart? I saw the thread about the 2nd gen explorer dash, is that the same as my '98? Im trying to avoid cutting and pulling the whole dash out.

Any ideas?:feedback:

Cut the bottom of the air box. It's the easiest way to get the job done.
There's some good instructions w/pics on the web, just google it and read.
The whole process took me just under an hour. Wasn't bad at all.

Thanks fellas,

I did the heater treater instructions that came with my blend door. I was hesitant at first to cut the plenum. Just the thought of cutting anything in my vehicle's creeps me out. Thats why I didn't do it in F-150. I should of though!

It was messy but the end result was really good! I would suggest this to any Explorer/F150 owner!

Thanks!
