Hello. Can anyone advise how to Troubleshoot the blind spot system? I periodically get dash wor errors saying this system isn't working.

Last summer, my 2018 Explorer intermittently issued error messages saying the blind-spot detection feature stopped working. Had the dealer check it out, and they discovered a bad connection in the wiring harness inside the vehicle. In my case, the bad connection was on the driver's side, behind the large interior plastic cover to the left of the third-row seat.

It's a long wiring harness, and it took three days for the dealer to methodically disassemble interior components to examine the wiring from the front-mounted control module to the left-rear sensor. Since the repair, the blind-spot sensor has worked flawlessly.

What does the message actually say? Does it mention it is 'blocked' or does it indicate 'system error'?
Also, the BLIS radar units are not in the same location on a 2011 (yours) and a 2018 (Exit32) although both are toward the rear of the vehicle.
On yours, the BLIS consists of two radar sensors each located rearward of the rear wheels hidden behind the bumper fascia. Do not place any type of bumper sticker in this area. I would guess that as far as the wiring goes, they would likely be much the same.
Intermittent problems are the worst kind to track down. Good luck.

FWIW, my 2018 Explorer generated and displayed two different error messages last summer:

1. Blindspot System Fault
2. Cross Traffic System Fault

Did this ever get resolved?

Wow. I didn't know there were any responses. I wasn't notified.

Thank you for the replies and insight. I'm gonna have to track it down through the wiring...I guess.
