Hi as you can probably see I'm new to the forums. I have a 1998 4.0 Eddie Bauer Explorer, when I got it the A/C blew Ice cold and the heater was nice and crisp. One day going to school I noticed the A/C would cut out on its own and I could hear the rear A/C whining (assuming the motor). A short while afterwards they both cut out, so I assumed it was the blower motor. But what's weird is if I put it on "floor and panel", whether I put A/C or heater on and I hit about 50-60, I can feel a small amount of cold air coming from the vents if A/C and hot air if heater. I just need help diagnosing if this would be the whole motor itself or a module. Thank you for any help

You will get airflow if your vehicle is moving, check your fuses but if the motor started making noise then stopped that would be my guess.

For sure check the fuses, wiring, and blower motor resistor. I just did the blower motor on my EX. I broke the stock wheel(Fan blade) on mine, I for a very close replacement for the wheel at my local NAPA, the motor was $40 it's self. I had to use 3 small washers at each of the 4 screws holding it in as a spacer, because the motor or wheel was not an exact fit, more or less a general generic replacement.

If you do need to replace it, you have to remove the washer bottles, and the box thing, which I think is a servo for cruise control.

***To see if it is the motor, turn the speed on high, and open the hood and wack the motor with a small hammer, or a but of a screwdriver. If it turns on, it is the motor dying. I was able to hit mine to start it for a week before it was no more.

Good luck, any more questions just ask, I just went though it, so maybe I can help you out.
