Bluetooth phone calls really noisy

Well at least it's not jsut me. I think it's the noise cancellation algorith. Most other bluetooth's dont sound like that, including the $29 standalone bluetooth speaker i used to own.

Hey guys,
For those who are still having troubles with noisy calls, please let me know via PM. I can send an escalation to the Customer Service Manager for your area. For me to do that, please include your dealer information, VIN, approximate mileage, and contact info. I’m interested in seeing this resolved once and for all.

I asked my dealer about the problem and they said they've never heard of problems on the Explorer...some Edge's but not Explorer. Before I wasted time at the dealer, I figured I'd monitor this site for a cure.

Cory,

I assume it's not worth escalating to you until the dealer has the car and tells me to try x.. fix, correct?

Car 54,
You have the choice to send me your information before that. I can arrange for you to be called by the Customer Service Manager for your area before you take your car to the dealer. Drop me a line to let me know if that’s what you’d like me to do.

Bluetooth Noise 2012 explorer

My new 2012 explorer bluetooth sounds like the windows are down. My wife says it is quiet and clear from inside but I cant hear her while she is moving. It fades in and out. Anyone else have this problem. Like a wind tunnel!!

Yup...on the highway the bluetooth sounds like it's picking up ALL the roadnoise, like the noise cancellation isn't working.

Interesting b/c a $29 Blueant Bluetooth speaker was crystal clear.

Sounds like Ford is working on a solution, a beta test version of MFT has been tried by a user here with only slight improvements.

See this link for a writeup of my experience with bluetooth noise comparing a 2012 Ex with a 2012 Edge.

Very interesting. Does the Edge have a newer version of the Sync or MFT software/firmware or do you thikn it's a hardware difference?

Anyone know if the Explorere MFT firmware is upgradable ?

The Edge should have the same, newer version of MFT as the Ex. That is v2.11.

I can't be sure if it is hardware or software, but I would think that the software would be the same. Then again, they may use different microphones in the Edge and Explorer, but I would think that for cost reasons they would like to pull them from the same parts bin.

The MFT firmware is definitely upgradable.

I wonder how much more interior noise there is in the x compared to the Edge. I think my X gets to be quite noisey when going 65+ .Road conditions can vary the noise a lot. It just make the noise cancellation software even more important
