After the installation of the headers on my Navajo I noticed a smell like the maybe the gaskets getting hot when running the car. After three days the smell is still there. Has any one else had this problem. I checked under the hood and there is nothing smoking or nothing up against the headers that is melting... But I also have a new cat too. Any ideas?

It is probably the header gaskets. They stink real good for a little while. This is normal and will go away.

HEY KRIS DID NOTICED ANY DIFFERENCE WITH THE BORLA HEADERS...STILL WAITTING ON MINES..

I did notice a power increse and very pleased with them... There are a funny sound on the inside of the car like the is an exhaust leak but I check the system out side and there is no leak anywhere but I can live with that... It was very much worth the money... They are a pain to put on too...

My buddy put Borla Headers on his Ranger and I on my Explorer. We both thought that we screwed something up and he re-did his before realizing that the exhaust leak sound is exactly that - just a sound!

The sound is common with headers... Material of the tubes is a bit thinner than stock manifolds and there is no heat shields on them to deaden the sound... It's the sharp burst of exhaust gas hitting the tube when the exh. valve opens.

Coincidentally, I have borla catback exhaust on my 95 explorer.

I hear a funny metallic ringing sound around 1900-2400 rpms. Thats it. I thought I had a loose object in the pipes but I was wrong. It is just the sound. I find it irritating and hope it goes away when carbon builds up (only 200 miles on it).

Anyone else have this same sound on borla catback exhaust?

I'm running Borla headers, Flowmaster cat, and Borla cat-back, and have been for some time now. I, too, heard noises shortly after installation that sounded like an header leak. I checked the header bolts and some were loose. Problem solved... for awhile. The noise commenced again, I checked the bolts, some were loose. I then s--- canned the exotic chrome bolts that came with the headers, went to more normal bolts, gooped them up with locktite, bolted them in and have had no problems since.

Kris, What type of cat did you use? I have 93 Explorer Sport and am thinking of doing the whole exhaust at once and using borla headers and cat-back, but I want a like quality piece for the cat.

Well I just installed my Borla Headers on 1/29/00 and I can fell a more HP. There was a ticking sound at first but after driving for 10 miles it went away, as for sound it's a bit louder but not much. oh by the way the Headers are (direct fit). I was very happy that I did not have to go to a muffer shop, and to add I got the Borla Headers for $243.00 which included shipping.
