Bought a pair of front calipers from Chris on this forum, had them blasted and powder coated and came out great! just waiting for new caliper seals ($9) to arrive from rockauto (Ford wanted £21 a side!) will be installing them along with new hubs when the weather warms up:)

calipers

hi they look a lot better than when i sold them. how much did it cost to have them powder coated. cheers chris

both calipers and both crackets blasted and powder coated were £50 cash

ooops
he didn't mask the brake pad sliding surface on the clipers or the brackets

--you should address this

Also,
the actual "mounting" of the caliper brackets is a metal to metal friction held tightly by the bracket bolt. The entire mating surface should be left bare.

I might be wrong, but the "circle" mask may cause metal to metal mating issues

IMO
it should be more like this

yeh i did notice that, am gonna scrape it off from there

cheers for the info, when you say "brake pad sliding surface" do you mean the place ive arrowed here?

but the pads dont touch the surfaces i highlighted as there are metal clips in there that cover that area up!! or am i missing something ?
same with the other surfaces as there are clips in the caliper that the shoe touches

Turdle, whats the best way to remove powder coat ?

Those look nice, and red makes everything go faster. :D

The only thing I noticed was the powder coat in the seal area.
I think you need to clean that out before whacking a new seal in to avoid damage to the new seal.

thanks, yeh im gonna wait for the seals to come and thought i may have to remove the coating around the edge, will see when the seals get here.

These look great
Got em fitted yet?

Not yet, just waiting for the new seals to arrive, had them sent to a friend in the US from Rockauto and they then forward them on(lot cheaper than Rockauto shipping!)

Then have new hubs and the calipers to fit when the weathers nice:)

Hi fcat,

Cheers Kev.
