I have a 2023 Explorer XLT 4WD and just today it started making a really noticeable noise whenever I push the brake pedal and whenever I let it back up. It even happens when the vehicle is off. I checked the brake fluid and it seems to be fine. The brakes still seem to work, just a little spongier (but I might be imagining that part).

What in the world is this noise?
Thank you.

Welcome to the Forum.
Have you checked under the dash to see if you can see a possible issue with the area that the pedal makes contact with?
I don't think it is an issue with the brakes themselves.

I don't see any reply to my post. Just a repeat of it with nothing added.

It ended up being a failed seal in the master cylinder letting fluid into the brake booster.
