this is what i've done:
http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=216210&highlight=cogs
my brakes pulse when braking only.
pretty much replaced everything on brake system, and just replaced the last caliper on the passenger side.
in the link given, they also suggested the master cylinder pushrod may be overlong. the master cylinder was replaced by firestone. so, since i've done everything possible, is there any adjustment i can make to the master cylinder, or do i need another one? would the master cylinder even cause the pulsation? if so, how? if you can think of any other reason for the pulsation, i'd be glad to hear it!

I have a couple of questions, because it is eleven months later and the problem is back. Are you using ceramic pads and/or did you use anti-seize on the caliper pins when replacing the caliper? I went through two sets of rotors when I had ceramics on my Ex. That's not to say that ceramics are no good, I believe it is just inadequate metal in the rotors. Instead of replacing your rotors this time, go to a good machine shop and turn them, (unless they are warranteed, then just get new ones again). If the calipers are sticking and heating up the rotors and they are the type of metal mentioned above that could cause warping and vibration.

yes, i'm using ceramic pads. the pins aren't sticking, i think, because i always put a little grease on them (they're new). i have not changed the drums. ah, i'm mad that i can not 'pin' down the problem easily. going to look at the drums this weekend. seems like the front end would be the pulsing, not the rear, but i'll do everything. i've changed all the hardware on the rear, 'cept the drums. the abs works. and i'll bleed them again. i'll see if i can get other than ceramic pads.

You can check if it's the front or back by going about 20 mph and slowly pushing on the emerg. brake. slowly push untill you start 2 feel drag. Emerg. brake only works back brake's. If no stop ,go feel, then it's front. You can have brand new on front and when after 20 mins. or so of driving you go thru big puddle of water it can warp rotor's.

Cogs,

I have my third set of NAPA lifetime rotors on my Ex. After the first two sets, I went back to Semi-Metallic brake pads and they didn't warp again. Unless you have drilled and/or slotted rotors built to disipate heat, stick with semi-metallic. However, there have been many on this board that have had successful experiences with the ceramics. My opinion is that cheap rotors are at a maximum, built to specs. Therefore a performance upgrade such as ceramics could be the problem with your vibrations, it was with mine.

thank you, i'll try semi-metallic... i'm slowly learning to think more critically when it comes to mechanics

now i have semi-metallic pads.
on the clips to the inside pad:
1. how many are there supposed to be?
2. if only one, does it go on the bottom?
3. which direction does the rounded side go, pointed outside or inside?
every now and then i'll find them missing when i replace the pads, because of my pulsation. i need them on correctly to see if this helps the problem at all.
thank you! cogs

here's a thread of the bearing that i need to replace, on the front passenger side of my 1994 sport 2wd:
look at the first picture for the part.
i'd like to know what's the part number (1994 sport), or is it just a generic part?
also, will this procedure (for a 1997) in the link, work the same for my 1994?
if you have a link to o'reilleys or autozone for the part, it's appreciated. i believe this is what has been causing my warped rotor problem, but can't be sure until it's fixed. you guys are great, thanks.

the answer was buying some $50 napa brake pads, and machining the rotors. it doesn't pulsate anymore for a couple of months now.

Totally different. This is a Hub Assembly, our First Gens have Separate Bearings and Races.

I have had horrible luck with NAPA Pads on the Front. TS7125 and the SS7125AM....The Pad surface keeps cracking off at the Rivets.
So pull the wheels every once in a while and look close for this
