Hello. I just took the truck in for a brake inspection. I have noticed the brake goes to far down when braking and when the emergency brake is on it also goes all the way down. Once I put the ER brake on and let go of the brake pedal the truck rolls back on the drive way. it sucks because when I go to start up again and put it in reverse it is hard and you can hear the knock in the transmission. WHY?

According to the shop the brakes are fine. the drums are fine. the cylinders are fine. everything if fine. so why does the er brake not hold her still?

Can someone post a pic of where the motor for the windshield washer is. mine don't work anymore?

Question 2:

I have been smelling a burning odor coming from the truck. NO smoke of any kind can be seen. It just smells bad....like something is burning....the temp gauge is fine. water level is fine. what can it be? I did spray armour all on the top of the engine when I was cleaning it. but his was a month or two ago. thx.

Maybe first have another shop look at the brakes as well. Here are my thoughts regarding the brakes:

If they're saying the rotors, pads, cylinders, and shoes are all in good shape then I would start looking at a cable adjustment for the parking brake.

For the regular braking, get the system bled if the pedal is truly going too far down before the brakes start to "kick in." It does seem like there is air in the lines so at the very least, they'll need to be bled. If the problem persists after a bleeding, have the master cylinder checked. Also be sure they look at the hoses and lines if they haven't and verify those are in good shape.

ok. how to you bleed brakes? how do you adjust parking brake? thx.

there is a burning smell coming from then engine somewhere. I don't see smoke. the temp is fine. I did armour all the top of the engine when I cleaned it but that was about 2 months ago. any ideas? thx

can someone put up a diagram of where I can find the fuses for the windshield washer motor. the wipers work but not the water. thx.

Bleeding brakes is a fairly simple process. You will most likely need to get the vehicle up in the air on jack stand; you may be able to do one end at a time (rear first, then the front).

If you're doing it yourself, you can buy a speed bleeder kit from any parts store and follow the directions that would be included with the tool. Or, you can have someone assist as it is a two-person job without the speed-bleeder.

No doubt that you can Google "brake bleeding" process and get a TON of how-tos.

You could also Google parking brake adjustment if you want...personally, I've never done it but if you're feeling up to it, it isn't too difficult either from what I understand.

Emergency brake cable needs adjustment... usually a pretty easy job honestly but I can't tell you how to do it because I don't know what gen your truck is.

When you say that you smell something burning, where do you smell it? Is it only in the cab, only outside near the engine bay, or both? Have you changed your oil lately and spilled any on the manifold? That has a "burning" smell.

Another member just had the parking brake mechanism fail. So, could be that. Other wise you have to remove the rear calipers and rotors, make sure the shoe assembly is centered and adjust the star wheel. Adjust it out until the rotors won't fit on, the back it off just slightly so they so fit. Then put everything back together.
