I have been in search for some brighter license plate bulbs (194) in a bright white, but have not found what I'm looking for. There seem to be many companies (APC, Polarg, PIAA,etc.) out there that are making them, but it's hard to pick a quality product that will give you what you want from the descriptions and a few pictures.

I'm not sure if it is even possible to get a truly brighter, whiter bulb. The stock bulb is 5 watts. I guess I have two questions: 1.) Is it possible that a bulb marked 5 watts - whether it be super white or stock - can actually be any brighter? 5 watts is 5 watts, right?

2.) And has anyone found what I'm looking for? I don't want to use anything that could run the risk of melting any of the housing or anything.

You can get 18 watt bulbs that will fit, but there mostliky melt the holder. I have PIAA Xtreme White bulbs in other place and I am very happy with them.

i just got some "super white bulbs" from a local ricer shop.

looks 100x better than the ugly stock bulb

Can you guys tell me what brand and a part number if possible? The only places I have around are AutoZon and Advance Auto. I will probably have to order off of the Inet.

i have hyperwhites in mine, looks hot. it lights up not only the liscence plate but also my whole rear bumber and the ground

Thanks. I'll give them a try. I've tried the APC superwhites. They have the bluish tint, but aren't really brighter.

hm.... why would a ricer want to make his licence plate lighter? isn't that just helping the cops give him a ticket? ;)

do the LED 194s work in the plate? i'm getting 7K HIDs and would like to add that bluish-white look to everything. luckilly white LEDs are always bluish.

The LEDs are to directional they don't work. I put amber in there because my car is copper.
