broken gas pedal in 94 x

Ok so today Im sitting at a red light when it turns green i go to hit the gas and I thought I missed the pedal till I realized it just wasnt there it had broken off the firewall and fell to the side, Has this ever happend to anyone before? Im not sure what the hell happend to it. all that was holding it was the cable? im not even sure about that tho? is this fixable? there looks like a crack in the fire wall? anyway brought it to the mechanic but I dont want him to try and get one over on my so any help is much apreciated thanks in advance.

It should be fixable (i don't see why not)... They should be able to weld some additional support if needed... As a trail fix you would just run some wire to the cable and make a hand throttle...

this has happenned before and there is a fix for it on this board. just do a search. apparently it's common. i haven't done mine yet, but the fix shows how to strengthen it up before it falls off also. i should do it soon.
