well ive found this 88 bII for $650 shipped to my house http://photobucket.com/albums/v299/Matt8888/BII/

it runs and drives the tranny(al4d) was rebuilt in dec. it has a 2.9 that ticks and taps, 4x4, 120,000 miles,

would this be a good project truck, or does this bronco belong in the glue factory???

i dont have alot of cash to send on it right away

any opinions?

How much is it? (without shipping costs)

Looks like it could be a pretty nice/fun project.

$500, is there to much rust?

Kind of hard to tell, but most of it seems to just be surface rust, right?

thats what i was thinking....but hears the bad news, if i would get this and fix it up to drive nicely on the road, id have to sell the explorer, no money for both trucks on insurance

Just get liability on the BII. No need for collision insurance on a $500 car.

That's what I did with my '88 BII. Looks good to me, Buy it!!!!!!!!!!!!

im really thinking about it, i have the cash and everything just gotta make up my mind

edit: i alway found one in the local paper, for $800 what are the problems areas on these 88's? is that 2.9L anything good?

Just dont overheat the motor they like to crack the heads if they get hot. I really liked the 2.9 I had in my old ranger.

damn i need to decide, but if you guys had this kind of deal would you get it? look at the pictures, the rust is botherin me

I would personally rather have an Explorer if it came down to being between the two of them

That rust is pretty typical for the BII, repair panels are available for under the brake lights and the cargo area floor. What happens is the rear tires kick up stuff and it gets stuck up in there. From the factory they have little "mud flaps" just behind the tires, tehy wear out and fall off.

Check the dog legs and the rockers for rust, also in the engine bay on the firewall just in front of the doors. This is a PITA to fix without pulling the drivetrain.

the BII has the 7.5, Dana 28 TTB, speed density 2.9L with the dreaded TFI module.

Truth is a 95 Explorer is a MUCH heavier duty vehicle.
Now if you take the explorer parts and put them in the bII,, now you have something.

Looks like a good project, $500-800 can but you a BII in similar condition to that one all day long here in CO.

Now with that said, they sure are ALOT of fun to drive!!!

well my whole big plan, was to use this as my senior project, then sell my explorer and all the extra parts, for it to have one badass b2, the only really rust the bothers me, is on the frame and diffs

410, with your v8 what kind of gas mileage do you get?
thats the main thing i want the most is to get better then 12 mpg :thumbdwn:

My 90 ranger has a 2.9, and I beat the **** out of that truck, and it wont die. I havent changed the oil in 2 years of driving it every day. The truck is a 5 speed, and at least like 5 times a day, I stand on it from a stop and just smolder the tires. I rev it up to about 5k every time. Id say its a reliable motor. Its gutless for sure

You dont have to insure both vehicles, just dont drive one.. I mean why sell one and not have it over something such as insurance when you could simply just not insure it and have both vehicles.

If you have the money, just buy it, spend your extra money on making it less rusted out and decide what you wanna do from there.
