BW 4404 Transfer Case Tag Question

I have a 1996 Explorer 5.0L w/ AWD. It has the BW4404 TC. The tag reads 4404-03. Could I replace this with a 4404-07? Would any 4404 be the correct replacement?

As long as it has the port for the speed sensor you can use it. Typically thats only 96s and 97s. I am not sure what the difference in the tag #s is.

According to eBay, the 4404-07 has no sensor.

Not sure. Saw it on ebay and just now noticed that it says no speed sensor, pretty sure I have one with a speed sensor. I'm debating whether or not to get a rebuilt, used or just try to rebuild myself.

Ohhhh, since your in the market for an AWD transfercase... read this, maybe you want to do this instead??
