Hello. I did something stupid and any help or suggestions will be appreciated. I put a 2000 regular emissions engine in a 1998 California emissions Ford Explorer. . It runs but won't rev up smooth. Idles smooth. It's like it is restricted. The original engine has the 3 prong cam position sensor. The new engine had the 2 prong cam sensor. I changed out the wiring harness and the check engine light is on with a cam position code. I also tried putting the computer from the vehicle I got the engine from but it won't even start with that computer. Vehicle will only run with original computer but I am wondering if the engines have different cams and it's confusing the fuel injection. I'm totally lost and need help please.
