Dreaded Cam-chain rattle just started, never been an issue on start up,
just happened all of a sudden, So would suggest that guides have failed not tensioner issues?
car still starts and idles but noisy! Front (left) cassette has worn through cam cover
advise please

Cheers No.1
Very grateful for all help.
Just finding my way around the forum at moment.
I was trained to be a mechanic 30 years ago but only do as a hobby these days..
Just glad there is help around that does go with my thinking still

check the rear cassette

The left (front) cassette can be replaced with the engine in the vehicle. To replace the right (rear) cassette the engine or transmission must be pulled. I suggest you inspect the rear cassette before working on the front cassette to determine if the engine should be pulled.

Many thanks 2000,
going to look at front first though, as left cassette obviously has a problem.....
(Chain has worn through cam cover!)
Had absolutely no noises....Chains/tensioners....then bam!
Has only done 1 mile since to get back to base then turned off!
Still starts first pull...So just hoping!
