Well, i think i have decided to go with a camburg kit for my EX. My front IFS is basically FUBAR due to some pretty hard hits its taken...and the fact that im almost at 150,000 miles. I had just planned on replacing it piece by piece, but now im thinking i want something a lil stronger. Given, it is a little pricier than i wanted to pay, but this way its STRONG, i replace everything at once, and i get a bit of lift/ more articulation out of my IFS. This is my daily driver, and i drive a LOT so i wanted to keep it road friendly. After xmas i will be upgrading to 33's, so hopefully it will be a good match with the kit. i am currently talking to the guys in the sales dept, and they are answering all my questions. i will update this thread as i get more info, and will hopefully be ordering the kit soon!

Hell yeah Camburg is an industry leader for a reason

Before ordering the kit, i suggest you do a little shopping on www.dezertrangers.com
There are a LOT of very qualified builders that frequent that site, and frankly, you can get a one-off kit tailored to your vehicle and driving style, for the same price as camburg. frankly, camburg resides in a big giant high-overhead building in high-rent orange county, and that is reflected in their prices. the only way to get real quality from camburg is to buy their race ready systems, which are exorbitantly expensive.

i was looking at the 6.0 entry level kit. i want more articulation, but i also want to be comfortable on the road. also, i am in college so this is basically what i can afford. im not looking for huge lift or massive articulation, so i think this is the way to go for me.

i will look into dezert rangers also, thanks exploderpilot.

Forget the lift if you're in college -- priorities man. Save your money for something else, hopefully something that appreciates in value (unlike an Explorer which only depreciates).

But if you still want to spend some $$, while your in college, do research on the Solid Axle Swap, start gathering parts, and congratulate yourself after graduation by doing a Solid Axle Swap :D. A stock Dana-44 axle will run you anywhere between free and $300 -- get the cheapest you can find (that fits the bill: driver's side diff) and store it somewhere at home for the future.

The following includes data thats a little outdated (cost per mile, etc..) but the concepts still hold true:

ya, i know...im about to graduate this may, so this is kind of my present to myself. but its just money...i want to spend it on somethin i like. i have a steady job and i already have a few investments...so i aint worried. as for the solid axle swap...i dont have a welder, or access to one...or know how to weld, and from what ive seen, you need one to do it. and i dont really have any place to keep the parts...im livin at my moms for my last year (save a few grand from room an board/ and no meal plan). i am movin out after i graduate...and that will most likely be to an apt/condo. id really like to do the swap...its just not feasible for me.

If you are 4wd(which i assume you are because you have done the BWM), the Camburg kit won't work, it's for 2wd. The only 4wd long travel kit is made by dixion bros racing and is like 4k.

well that sucks...they neglected to mention that to me. thats definitely out of my price range. know anyone who fabs up custom kits for less?

thats not true the dixion bros kit is 14 inches of travel and my friends bronco has 14 in front and 16 in the rear i doubt any one on here needs more then that unless your racing
