I'll be replacing the camshaft synchronizer on my two 97 5.0s. I've read almost every thread here on the synchros, but I was hoping someone may have some input on which brand of replacement part they've used in the past.
I'll be ordering from Rock Auto, and I have five choices
Dorman - synchro, sensor and alignment tool $42 - have heard enough bad things about this part that I will NOT order this one (unless I need just the sensor/tool)
Cardone reman - synchro, sensor $35 and $40 core
Cardone new - synchro, sensor $86 - some have said it's as bad as the doorman
Motorcraft - synchro only, $98 - would love to go this route, but again two vehicles, still need two sensors and an alignment tool.
Standard motor products - synchro, sensor and alignment tool $105
I'd be greatful if anyone has any personal experience with any of these brands they'd like to share. I'm kind of leaning towards the Cardone reman and getting the alignment tool from somewhere.
Thanks!
