Can anyone explain in detail how the Shift Motor works in a 4WD Auto setup (96 Explorer Control Trac). For example.....when it actually works and when it doesn't.
I have been having a problem with my explorers 4WD Auto. It no longer engages as the vehicle is in motion (say 5-10MPH). But at a stop it engages fine. I had also gotten the classic 4WD Flashing Lights, but the mechanic couldn't pull any GEM codes. He tells me the GEM and RELAYS are fine because it can still engage 4x4. He blames the Shift Motor. What do you think?
