I do not believe the 15" rims would clear your brake calipers in the front

Thats what i was told, which really blows cause it hard to find nice size tires for 16s

I put 15's on Sarah's old Sport that came with 16's. I thought only Sportracs had larger discs?

The 2nd gen Xs all came with the same rotors and calipers (or so I think) so shouldnt a 15" wheel fit where 16" used to be?

And as for the sport tracs, dont they have drums in the back -- that may be one factor to consider.

my $0.02,

sport tracs are 12" rotors up front and indeed drums in the back. little work with a measuring tape on an old alloy 15" shows theres a little under 14" clearance inside. the important thing to see is if it clears the brake caliper - it doesnt extrude much, but is it enough to grind out the rim? not sure, get out your dial indicator, see how tall the brake calipers are.

I see you have a 2000 XLT - My '99 Sport came with the uppity 16's. I now have 15x8" Crager steelies with no problems.

EDIT: when I first got my '99 I had 265/70/16 on there already.
