Can i tow off my bumper

Will be getting a boat not sure of exact weight just yet but probly around 2800lbs,would i be able to tow with just a ball on the back or should i mount a frame hitch,i was planning to install those things you put over your leaf springs for handling and support does anyone know what those are called.95 xlt 4 door 4.0,thanks for any info.

Your rear bumper is rated as a Class II bumper, so it can handle up to 3500 lbs. However, a Class III hitch will give you better results because you can adjust the tongue height to get the trailer to ride level.

There are several devices you can add for handling. There are add-a-leaf springs, and another called "Load Leveler" that is supposed to keep your stock ride the same, but help when weight is applied. I know there is at least one thread on here about it somewhere.
