Can't get the dang tire off...

What would that do for me? WOuld running it somehow loosen the wheel?

Just curious...

Just an idea.....

Which NW burb are you in? I'm curious to see how the wheel actually gets stuck on... I've had a hell of a time getting drums off, but never wheels and I worked at a tire shop for a while. Hmmm.. Good luck with finding something open on a Sunday though.

It sounds like the wheel is rusted on where the wheel flange goes over the pilot on the hub.

If you have a small hydraulic jack, see if you can wedge it between the frame and tire, then start pumping. The idea with the come along is a good one too. I would try to avoid hammering directly on the rim.

Well its FINALLY off. I think the penetrating oil helped a lot. I just decided to bang on the thing until it either fell off, or I broke something. It took about another half hour of pounding, rotating, pounding, etc., until it came off. Silly thing was the brake job took 15 minutes! Thanks for all the suggestions!

I'd take some fine emory cloth and clean up the area where the rim was sticking, then coat it with a light coating of oil to try to keep it from sticking in the future.

Just my .02 worth...

Glad you got the rim loose!

Yeps, that is what happened. At least that is where most of the rust was. The weird thing is that this wheel was off in July... Ah well. Its all back together now, with some goop I got at the store to prevent this in the future.

Now I'm a bit scared to do the shocks! I wonder if I'll ever be able to get those suckers off!? (I've started spraying them now.. I don't even have replacements yet..probably going to wait until my hands heal from changing the plugs/wires...)

BigDave.. essentially Schaumburg, although technically Hoffman Estates. I live in Hoffman Estates, but have a Schaumburg zip code. It sucks ordering stuff online, because most of those places use the zip code to get the city, so if UPS is delivering it, it goes onto the wrong truck the first day, and then UPS corrects it and I get it a day late.

I put shocks on my 97 in mid March and they came right off. Weird isn't it:confused:
