okay... my question is strictly about the performance aspect of removing catalink converters. I know its against the law, etc. but if it's strictly an off-road vehicle... how much hp is typical of this mod??? Im guessing maybe 10-20 with a better flowing muffler added, too. I don't mean to cause a huge discussion... i simply want the performace aspect if you could... thanks for all of your input!!!

I fixed  my cats about 2 yrs ago... I have noticed no difference other than it no longer blows out black smoke.

Your stock engine is not unleashing anymore power than what your catalytic converter could handle. Thus removing it won't do any more good, performance wise. It, however, might do some harm since the whole "system" is no longer in sync with each other.

It's not worth it. Your mighty 4.0 isn't being held back by the cats.

yeah, I've thought about high flow cats since I've "fixed" mine... can't seem to find a whole lotta info about em. Everyone seems to run cat-back, but doesn't do anything with cat-forward.

On a v8 the bottleneck isn't the cats at all. it's the peashooter headers. Fix them and the exhaust will flow a lot better than a high flow, or even no cat.

The stock cats on any Ford product typically out flow the engine by 75-100%. It makes no sense to remove them as they are not harming anything.

thanks guys for all your input!!! that clears up a few of my ?'s... i thought about headers... but its like... i could spend all the time and money... or just wait and get a bigger truck/bigger engine... thats always my delima... idk how long ill have my ex ne ways.. i love it to death! but i think mabe a bronco could fall into my future... ive always loved them... but for now.. lightly modded 94 xlt works for me!! thanks again!!
