just removed mine this weekend. it's pretty simple. just remove the two bolts at the back of the console, the same bolts that hold the armrest cover. there's another couple bolts in the front, near the tissue paper, i think. after that, just pull the whole thing out. it took a little wrestling to get it out... the box lining manages to get caught up in weird ways as you pull the thing out.
it comes out connected to the lining of the armrest storage area... oh, and don't forget to detach the cable, which is located in the front of the armrest area, beneath the tissue area.
