CG's Ex in the McNeil Racing Bat Cave

Here's a couple of the yellow Ex that rolled at Del Mar. Roll bar saved the day!
watched that thing roll and that cage sure did save the day, it was weird though becasue he was racing either the same yellow x or maybe another identical X later that day.

looking GREAT so far!
keep up the updates :)

Getting close!

Just one pic today, my camera ran out of batteries. The front bumper keeps evolving, now we are adding a lower part to the wing to mount fog lights. I’m really happy with the way it’s turning out. Not much more, just the skid plates, and running new pipe from the muffler back & changing the mounts for the roof rack & cosmetic stuff.

Should be done tomorrow, but I need to head to LA, so I probably won’t see it again till Friday. :(

Stic-o, got the bumper in the back of the wife’s car, ready to bring up there. I’ll get a hold of you tomorrow to let you know what day will work best.

Shock mounts: I’ve asked a few times about pricing for the shock mounts, but haven’t heard anything firm yet. I’ll post more when I can lock him down.

I agree. Looks really good!

I completely agree. That bumper has come a long way. Much better.

I would like to have a front bumper like that.

We get in a lot of great wheeling down here in Baja, which is why I love the Explorer cause it can haul the whole family and tents & all, & still wheel hard when the time comes :D
Tell them about the Pole Line Road...The Pole Line Road...Yeah, yeah, Pole Line Road...

I REALLY want to see the rear flex with the outboard shocks like that.
I have been wanting to do that on my BII for a long long time, the stock BII shock moutns SUCK because they hang down so low.....
Outboard shocks have alot of advantages, but what about off road? I see McNeil do it and think, hmmmm might not be bad at all then, if it stillarticulates fully thats all I care about, I imagine the ride is improved quite a bit.

Well she's out! First impressions... :D :D :D

Just took a short test drive and played around in the dirt to look for problems.

Found the rear disk brake bolts rubbed on the shock at full flex (more on that later ;) ) they are going to move the shock mounts on the axle a bit to correct.

Here are some poser shots of all the completed work. I'll have more info on all the mods after the weekend when I smash it around a bit.

That looks awesome! Better than I even expected.

I see rear flexy...............but what did they do to the front (and no, did not read all of it)? :D

edit: btw..............mounting the lower shock mount there seems kinda sloppy

WOW! Great job Chris! Looks like she could flex even more if the shocks were longer.

Some notes...

Put the spare on. :D

But a mount on the CB Anntana on the rear bumper, it will look beter then the tail light mount.

Trim, Paint put back on the strips from the quarter panels. This is what I did, and came out well! ;)

The front is stock. I decided to save money and make the back flexy. That way, when I go to the Rubicon, I just have to turn the Xterrains around and run the trail backwards ;)
