Charging Cable Cutout

On my road trip, it was annoying that my phone had to be plugged in to use Android Auto and the cord was hanging across the climate controls. Has anybody cut out a small hole that a charging cord could be pulled up from below into the little tray below the screen? Or does anybody have another creative option they have done?

I have a '20 ST. There is a USB port in the covered bin in front of the shift knob. I plug a cable in there, route it through the slot on the edge of the cover and stick my phone in the slot in front of the cup holders
