1993 Ford Explorer
Hey guys, My name is Sean. Im obtaining a 1993 Explorer (for free!) that to my knowledge is bone stock. Running with a little over 100,000 miles. Im wondering what i should do to it.

What are some mods that i should do? i want it to be able to handle the road and the dirt!

Also i don't have a ton of money.

Thanks in advance for any help i might receive.

-Sean

check that, im not sure if 93's have torsion bars. another mod you can do is a good set of tires. a fresh set of treads can make a world of difference in how your rig will not only drive but how it looks too. good luck!

No torsion bars on a 93. Do the washer or f150 coil seat trick, shackles in rear.

Throttle body mod?

throttle cab mod free if u have a few zip ties.

coil spacers and shackles.

if u see fit swap in manual hubs. personally i like superwinch and warn...already grenaded a set of milemarkers.

not really a mod but go ahead and check the wheel bearings as the dana 35 ttb's are known for going through wheel bearings.

i dont know your budget but if its an open rear diff a powertrax locker or powertrax no slip can be had for about 300 i think

f150 springs gave me 2.75" lift, diy shackles out back. Moog 4* camber shims. all together is like $400.

If you have an LS rear end, repack with the 5.0 mustang carbon plates. Buy two sets for the performance re-pack. $70 on line

Throttle body mod $0
mustang MAF housing $0-$50
130 amp alternator from a limited or Lincoln $85 ebay reman
Body lift $400 or less
Procomp shocks $200
Extended hoses for axles and gear boxes $50
410 cam $300 or less + install
sway bar quick disconnects $0- $80
second gen rear sway bar $0-$25 JY
Better intake pipe $0-40 (DIY) $10-50 (mustang fox body)
E-fan $15-$200 depending on many variables
Custom cat back exhaust $50-$400 depending on components +install
Port heads and intake (diy) $50 in sand rolls

What are your goals? Is this a 2wd or 4wd truck?

Thanks Guys. I will take all that in to consideration. It is 4wd. And my goals are to be able to handle on and off road.

Thanks

It's not supper beefy. I don't remember the size difference, but it is a little thicker. Grab everything from the doner.

alternator goes up to a 250amp on ebay, just depends on what you wanna pay, but then comes more alternations such as the big 3, which should do any ways...

non a/c conversion helps later for repairs on other items..
