Was up playing around this weekend off Hwy 2 and while doing a hill climb the front seal on my tranny burst. It went 195K miles though!! I want to just have it re-built while it's out. Does anyone know where I can get a good re-build for a lower cost? I'll put up some pics from this weekend with me and two 70's F150s soon. Thanks.

what cheap to you? I have bought 2 rebuilt trannies from PRT pheonix rebuilt transmissions http://www.phoenixhardparts.com/ and have not had any problems with them, I got some upgrades when I got mine 3 years ago and I paid about 1600 for it and then last year I bought one and put in a explorer for the kid and we paid about 1200 for it

Cheap isnt best, take it from experience... 3 a4lds down the road. The last one was built for me at a cost of 2200...

Welded planetary, shift kit, HD parts, better torque converter, etc... even repainted the case and bell housing. Still going strong after 2 years, needed one adjustment shortly after getting it back (draggin OD shift) but was fine after that.

That was done at Eds Transmission Northgate, ask for chuck.. tell em Rick with the white explorer sent ya. Anyway, good people, and the only people I could find in Seattle that was experienced with the A4LD and answered all my questions that I pre-prepaired to make sure I found someone who knew what they were doing.

Hope that helps.

Also, there is a fella on CL selling a rebuilt A4LD right now, cheap.
