did search nothing came up that really helped.... getting ready to put the heads back on my 93 xlt ... thought of gasket matching the heads and intake and doing a little porting and polishing anything else (just top half) any good aftermarket intakes out there for it?

jsut about any modification isnt going t obe cheap.....

it sounds like your doing a rebuild at least of the upper half thats good..... there are a few intakes out there, but unless you make one yourself, its going to draw engine bay air into the engine.... which it really doesnt get that hot compared to outside ambient temps when moving, but then there are those purists.....

I bought this motor in a wrecked 2wd the intake gasket had a leak (famous for) so last time I had a intake gasket replaced on the old motor (over 100,000 miles) the head gasket started leaking so before I installed this motor I decided to take care of the problem..

Nothing more then the obvious; Cam, TB, headers... but none of its cheap.

5 Easy steps to making your truck run better....

1. Raise hood.
2. Remove radiator cap
3. Pull vehicle out from under radiator cap
4. Pull new vehicle in under radiator cap
5. Replace radiator cap.

Voila....truck is fixed and runs better :D

Best bang for the buck? CAI, chip and Cat-Back Exhaust...but as said above..none of it is cheap. Porting and polishing will help minimally, but if you're good at it, might as well do it while the motor is apart.

okay I'll just port and polish and put her back in... I'm going to try a new exhuast mod true duals on a explorer... elimate the cat

Be careful with duals...if you flow too much exhaust you will lose low end torque. The 4.0 is not that large a motor and a single 2.5" exhaust is quite sufficient for anything less than a blown or turbo'd 4.0 motor. Also, eliminating the cat won't do much for you except pollute more. They aren't that much of a restriction for a n/a 4.0.

Best mods:

throttle cable mod, airbox hack, Sea Foam treatment

Love the vehicle pics. Any idea when the 66 will be finished (pics)? That is my favorite year. My wife thinks I am nuts. She wants your Mach! I am hopeing to be at Carlisle in 2007 with an Astro van and my Explorer.
