hey there. i am debauting what shocks to buy. I will be putting a plow on and I think I want either Bilstein Shocks or Edelbrock Shocks. I will be getting better springs as well and since they take weight i was wondering if i even need a HD shock. I will aslo have air bag support from fisher plows when i add it to the X. what to u all think?

anyone?

Another choice is the Monroe Reflex shocks. I just replaced my Edelbrock IAS shocks with them. They ran about $40 each at Napa.

Shockwarehouse.com has very good prices.

Believe it or not, your local Autozone (if you have one) can order them quickly at a pretty good price. Mine was able to get me my Bilsteins the next day for less than the cheapest place that I could fine online at the time with two day shipping, including the sales tax. It the time, I was at a time contraint, so that's why I didn't use Shockwarehouse.com.

The Bilstein's run $70 a piece no matter who you buy from. I have heard alot of bad things about the Eldebrocks. I have Trailmaster SSV's on mine and like them. I paid $40 a shock from 4Wheel Parts. I do recomend the Bilsteins however. If I ahd the money when I bought my shocks I would have went with them.

i found the blisteins at $57 a piece at performanceproducts.com is that a good deal?

Yes it is. I have never senn them that cheap. Like I said most places want $69.95 a shock.

I personally wouldnt bother with those expensive shocks if you are going to run a plow. The PLow will kill your shocks quicker so you mine as well either get some cheapo's or some lifetime warranty shocks.........

PLow = rough ride no matter what.

well the springs actully take most of the weight so that isn't too bad. i will be getting new springs. i just wanted to put on some good shocks to help it out. i will probably go with the Blistiens. thanks guys

Still why not get some rancho 9000's???? lifetime warranty and you can adjust them for when the plow is on/off the truck.

The Bilsteins are okay, but these trucks are hard on shocks even without the plow, so why not get something that is replaced for free????

tell me about the Rancho's. i don't know much. what do they run?

rancho 9000's are excellent shocks.
they are 9 way adjustable if i remember right, with a little dial right on the shock.
Rancho gives you a lifetime warranty with them, covers normal wear and tear (obviously if you bottom one out or bend it up your not gonna get covered)

They are buy 3 get 1 free most of the time, I think it's like $225 for 4???

go here....

They won't be replaced for free if Rancho determines that they wore out. See my posts about Edelbrock and their "Lifetime Warranty". Since they consider that my 2 1/2 year old shocks wore out after 50K miles, they aren't covered under their "Lifetime Warranty".

ranchos warranty is different from edelbrocks. Edelbrocks are a rip off.............................

monroe makes rancho. You can also go to midas and get the Monroe sens a tracs, they are decent shocks and midas will replace them for as long as you own your truck, charging you for labor. I hate Midas but if you go there just for shocks and you plan to keep your truck for a long long time then it may be worth it.

Also I know of some Rancho 9000's that were in pretty sad shape, rancho replaced them no questions asked....

are the RS5000 any good? the RS9000 are $322 that is over $100 more than i can get the blisteins for.

LOTS OF PEOPLE SWEAR BY THE 5000'S. DO A SEARCH ON THIS SITE AND YOU WILL FIND TONS OF INFO ON THIS SUBJECT, ALSO DID YOU CHECK TO SEE IF THEY ARE DOING THE BUY 3 GET 1 FREE???

Oooops sorry for the caps.......

didn't look like there were. i like the price of the RS5000. so i may look into those.

don't worry about the caps.

Bilstein Warranty

When talking warranty, Bilsteins have lifetime warranty as well for the original purchaser.
