some of you have already seen these pics in the chat room and heard my story, so this is for everyone else. The total damage was driver door , passenger door, front windshield, dents in the roof, repainted fender, repainted hood, new clutch(complete system), and a broken ego. Cost of damage was $3200 to $4000. The thing that makes it even worse is this was the week that the dana 44 was to be installed. I just figured "one more outing with the IFS and then to the garage." Man that was a bad idea!!

Ah....The joys of living in the midwest....no straight 300 drops.....glad to know yer okay....broken ego eh? I wouldn't worry too much, seein as how now it's another story to tell around the campfire!
Hope everythin gets fixed fine!
Pete

I'm suprised the seats came out ok.. I'd be hanging on to them with my butt so tight...

DAMN!!!!
I think that is the scariest roll of them all, knowing your so close to a rim like that. I saw a picture of a rollover on black bear pass here in colorado where they had rolled so close to the edge (also a very steep dropoff) that part of the winshield was actually hanging over the ledge... talking about messin your pants for the next 20 minutes or so! Great pictures! Definately glad you are OK and that you weren't about 10 feet closer!

Was there still somebody in there when you turned it back over?? It almost looks like it in the third photo.

If so....man you got some guts...I'd be out of there as soon as I can.

The truck was vacated in about 2 seconds and the seat was a little dirty j/k lol Will anybody vote for me in the next Rollover Posse Election? Scariest moment of my life but I'm sure there will be others. Just not next to the rim with a 300 foot drop off.

We call that damage custom trail body work, some people shave there door handles and some smash the doors . No Big deal, its kind of like a wear to fit thing. You should have just hosed off the dirt and driven it to the shop and had the 44 installed. If I were you I'd learn how to do body work! I defonately think you win the Oh $hit award! Robbie J

you already have my vote for the next "best whoops" contest! i'm glad you're okay. good luck with the repairs!

Don't worry, your now an Official Member of the RollOverPosse.

Your just not geting nominated for president, until DiffWhackDaddy's term is over.

Oh H*** yeah!!!
What else can a guy ask for!?! Member of The RollOver Posse, and votes for the "Best Whoops" contest, man it just don't get any better then this!!!

Oh wait a sec, my truck back would be nice!!!hehehehe

Thanks for the replys guys!!!

So how did you roll the truck there? It doesn't look like there is anything there to cause a roll...

That was my question too. Also not to be an ass or nothing but is there a trail there?

HOLY CRAP!!!

On the pucker-factor scale from 1-10, that's gotta be somewhere around 18!!! That's nuts! I do want to hear how it happened, though? Was there a rut or something? Who was with you at the time?

Nomination Seconded

(He's got my vote too, Tom. Studdedx should hereby be officially declared a member of the Rollover Posse. And anyone who would roll it over that close to a lethal ledge deserves nomination for next president when DiffWhackDaddy's time is up!)

I don't feel so bad about my new Clayton whoops now.

I'm glad you're okay. That's cutting it a little close for my liking. Where was that at? The scenery is spectacular, though I am sure that the view from inside the vehicle would have looked better from a level perspective. :D

Location was along the Snake River here in Idaho. I was out makin my own trails when I decided to check out Pillar falls so I drove over by the rim and got out to look and I didn't feel like turning around so I looked around to find a exit. There were big rock mounds and I saw a spot to go around so I drove forward not paying attention to the ground and was just crawling along when boom it began to roll. I realized how close I was to the rim so my first thought was "here we go, one last ride!" When the truck came to rest I realized we weren't falling into the canyon and proceeded to exit the truck in lighting form. Looked at my truck and then my friend and began to flip out. Checked the damage and looked at what I fell into and noticed there was a 3 foot drop off into this hole. Some of you know that I run 36" tires and this hole was slightly taller then my tires. Called the dealership today and I should my rig back in about 1.5 weeks to 2 weeks. Hopefully I will see you all down in Moab sometime and we all can do some wheelin together. Gjarrett, I'll take that nomination for Rollover Posse president when the time comes. Thanks guys!!!

DAMN! I'll stick to my mild highway type rollovers. Definitely off the chart on the pucker factor. They probably would have had to surgically remove the seats from my a**!

Is your heart rate down below 500 yet???

hey now, I think making yoru own trails especially in a habitat such as near a cliff edge really knocks you down the list of potential presidents of the rollover posse. Not to be mean or anything, but that is not only not intelligent but pretty irresponsible as well.

matt your not fully understanding me here!!! This is in a OHV park and we were following some motorcycle trails and had a idea of cutting across this rocky terrain to check out the falls. There was actually a road right there but I didn't want to go that direction so I was going to drive somewhat along the rim(about 15-20 feet away) and meet up with the main road but while checkin out the the view hit this hole that you couldn't really see when I decided which way the main road was. And you know the rest of the story. I would never go out wheelin next to a 300 foot drop for $hits and giggles, I just wish I payed more attention to the ground instead of the river.

I am glad I am not the only one thinking that. Sure you rolled but it was pretty dang dumb. I mean if you had stayed on the trail and walked over to the edge you would've been fine. I guess if thats private property and the owners don't mind you blazing your own trails thats cool too but there sure are a lot of plants out there that I am sure got destroyed and if greenies see this I am sure they will work on closing it down. Plus all it takes is one person to start the next trail and soon there is another unauthorized trail there and then the Forest Service has to get involved with closing it off and teaching people that once they start that its all down hill from there.

I guess what I am saying is just don't make a habbit of that unless its on private property and you have permission. Its just not wise.

OK let me clarify a bit. You were four-wheeling in an OHV park. OK, that's cool... we weren't on private property or ruining forest service property, thats a good thing. Weren't following a trail, that's bad. Weren't keeping your eyes on the road while four-wheeling, REAL bad. Were going to fast, once again, real bad. You were going to fast, not keeping your eyes on the road, while within a good distance of a 300 foot dropoff, REAL BAD. I'm glad your ok and all, but it sounds like a lot of mistakes were made that could have been easily avoided.
By the way, following motorcycle trails is a bad habit to make. Motorcycles can go a hell of a lot more places then trucks can and you'll find yourself in trouble later on down the trail when you reach a spot the motorcycles and ATV's could get through no problem, but you can't.

Just trying to keep it all in perspective :).
