Christmas in February!!! Supercharged 4.0 ohv

I wouldn't bank on it, I'm on my second trans with about 20,000 miles and its already beginning to trouble. You should consider building an m5od while the 5r55e is getting eaten up, some later rangers evencame with an hd version of the m5od. I absolutely hate being a debbie downer, but the 5r55e is already a notoriously weak and troublesome trans, throw a bunch more horsepower in front of it and your asking for problem. At least put a shift kit, another cooler (or 2) and an auxiliary filter in the trans for now, may help it last a little longer.

I would like to stay with the auto....I might do a th400 or 700r4 down the road.

I won't be doing any beating until I get a good tune in it, so hopefully it will last until I source out another tranny.

How are you going to get either of those trans to work, if theres an adapter out there for either of those transmission's that ive missed in the past year 1) ill be pissed!! 2) I am buying it as well as 700r4 as soon as i get my tax return.

even if there is an adapter how are you going to get it to work with the explorer computer?

Get ready to start buying

those transmissions are not computer controlled they are speed/hydrolicly controlled

I was looking into using one of these transmissions in my supra when I was going to put a lm7 5.3l in it

very sweet man. who are you going to have tune it?

Looks good...

And for the 5R55E...Well, I've had a turbo on mine running 9 lbs, (now more) and I haven't had a problem. (a couple of years now) I did have to do some tuning when I first installed the turbo, but it's holding up. I'm not sure why others have so many problems with this tranny...

So basically, i'm running a stock 5r55e with an oversized pan, synthetic fluid and some tuning mods..that's all.

The whole problem is the flywheel/flexplate, I gusee stock its a two piece that is tack welded in three places ant the welds brake and take the tranny and torque converter with it. The guy I bought the kit from sent me the updated flywheel that is a two piece thats bolted together.

Install video I put together with pics and initial startup

http://youtu.be/bHWkiVIpv9s

Total working time to install about 6 and a half hours, and next weekend going to take it all out again to install the rest of the goodies.

That video sounds like a pretty healthy 4.0 liter ohv...What does your engine turn rpm-wise at 60 mph?

at 58 it was 5k then shifted, at 60 it was at about 4200

What other mods did you do before the SC?

Great video mate! Didn't waste any time ay? Don't blame you.
