Chrome parts around foglights on a '99

Awww Hell! I thought I actually had some metal to my bumper!! :( O well Have you tried using a utility knife to try and pick away at the flakes?

Just curious, why'd you paint your grille flat black? Looks good as is, but I was just wondering why you didn't color match it.

I think the black will look good with the textured bumper. I may do the same to mine someday. Any affects on areodynamics with that color ;)

I actually thought you were gonna paint them purple to match, why the flat black?

I am assuming that the chrome peices are the same plastic with foil material that the grill and rear splashguards are made out of.

There is metal on the bumper; this is just a trim part. Yes, I have tried everything in the garage. Its not flakes, it more like sheets of the foil material and its rather tough stuff.

I painted it black because I like it and its different.

Alas, the driver's side chrome surround is no more... no more chrome, that is; its now painted flat black to match the grill and air dam.

Here are pictures of the prep and the painted product.

I shall shoot a few more pictures after the masking is removed later today.

Looks good

I recall that Jefe removed his. But I dont know if he just cut them out or not.. maybe PM him.

What I am talking about Al, you can see in the first picture above.
It is the purple section just below the head light. Painting that black too would look great. You can but edge it where it ends right up against the fender.

Just a thought.

A great thought too. I now understand what you were talking about.

I think I shall have a go with it.

I can't wait to see the finished product.

That looks real good, but I personally would have painted the whole bumper the same flat black, so it would have been more uniform. It definitely looks better than the chrome though. :)
