I found a set of Clear turns and one clear pass side reflector for the first Gen Explorer in good shape at the junk yard what are they worth if anything

Probably about as much as any other used aftermarket part, just what other people are willing to pay for them. Depends on how badly someone wants them. Given that there are lot of cheap aftermarket headlight and marker light assemblies for sale new on eBay, I'd say good luck.

I know on the tail lights, some people claim the clear taillights that are otherwise factory style are worth great money, but good luck trying to get someone to pay that much. I think someone had a set in the for sale section asking something like $200 and they eventually sold, but it took a loooong time. Rarity doesn't mean there will be demand.

Used, they aren't worth much, especially missing one reflector.

It kinda depends on what type they are though, the "fluted" OEM-style lenses might be worth a bit if they are a quality brand. Even so, chances are they are one of the cheezy brands since they made so many more of those. Those still come up on ebay every now and then for $20 shipped for the front markers, and the shipping costs the seller $12.00, so that gives you an idea what they're worth.

The "euro clear" lenses without fluted lenses are still being sold brand new as a complete set, though they've often overpriced and only sell every so often or when they come up for cheap.

Depending on the brand and condition I might be interested, I'm looking for a spare set of clears.

ok i did not no if they were worth any thing ill just put them on my Ex i think they will look ok since its white

Good stuff. I have clear front indicator lenses on mine that are the OEM style like Anime mentioned. I love how much light they throw off, enough to drive by (slowly) at night which is great for yard type work. Polishing them with the 3M kit helped a lot.

Found them at a junkyard; for some reason (legality?) I did not change out the corner reflectors.

EDIT: Pic Added

Do you mean you didn't change out the bulbs to amber ones and so they are lighting up clear? Some really old cars came with clear marker lenses and so while clear marker lights (steady light) can be technically legal, clear turn signals (blinking lights) are not. If you haven't already, get amber (3157A/3157NA) bulbs ASAP. You should also use amber 194A/194NA marker bulbs in the corner light sockets, since a clear light would look like a broken lens at night.

All 50 states require amber front/side reflectors. It's possible to stick an amber reflector on in addition to the clear side markers and comply with the law, but chances are good that the clear reflector will look like a broken lens at night as well, giving a picky cop just the excuse they need to pull you over and check everything. The front signal/marker clear lenses are usually DOT/SAE approved and with amber bulbs, are fully street legal.

Like I said, it depends on the brand and/or quality. The cheapos don't appear to be worth more than $20 shipped. Consequently, any near-OEM quality lenses would only be worth more than that to someone who knew what they were and cared enough to pay more for it.

I bought these before you could buy cheap junk on EBay... They are even DOT approved.

Good to no I was going to run clear blubs in mine are the blue supper star Sylvania one ok the ones that cost 10 buck a pack

IMO I don't think they'll look good with the orange reflector. Here is a quick photoshop of my old truck with all clear and then I added the orange reflector. It looks way out of place.

Are you talking the completely clear or the fluted clear? To the right person the completely clear ones are worth a bit as the headlight only is going for $200/pair new.

I paid $85 for mine a few months ago used in good shape.

Can't see your pic, as it's blocked, but if you're talking about stock replacements, RockAuto has them for $35 each side for the headlamp LINK, $9 each for the chrome trim or $5 for black trim, and $10 each for the parking lamps/turn signals LINK

I have had mine this way (clear bulbs) for a long time. However I do not drive mine very much (only when off road parks require road crossings or in the summer some.

Also the mud has tinted mine a little.

By the way: very clean IAmTodd....

The completely clear ("euro clear") is still being sold new. They are like $60 on ebay for the 4pc marker/signal and "reflector" set or more for the whole 6pc set with the headlights.

There's a difference between brands in these too, though.

The 3157ST Silverstars will just give out "whiter" light and won't make them any more legal. If anything, they will be even more illegal because at the right angle, those coated bulbs can appear "blue", and it's highly illegal to have blinking blue-color light if it's not on a cop car.

Sylvania DID make Silverstar bulbs that were coated and gave off an amber light when lit, but those are now long gone.

You're best off using amber bulbs. They are much less expensive, and will last a long time if you get a quality brand like Sylvania or Philips.

Looks good. The amber bulbs also help give a slight amber effect as you can see, which helps it look more factory, or at least gives the appearance of a legal lamp at first glace so as not to attract the wrong kind of attention.

I should probably install amber bulbs, but somehow it has not been a problem in over two years... perhaps because it is an Explorer, which local police ignore as long as it doesn't look white-trashed.
