I was at home depot and saw some 1/2in clear hose. $3.50 for 10 ft and figured I'd pick some up and put them in place of the black lines I have installed on my trans external filter, cooler. Figured would be something different and I could see if metal was floating by maybe...and how good of a flow I had. Anyone see any problems with using these? Like I said their 1/2 id, probably 3/4 to an in od so they have a good 1/8 thick wall at least, says they can be used for chemicals...my only concern was the heat....

If there is any negative pressure-the hose will "cave in"

I tried using some for vacuum lines, just the warm air made them cave in.

I'd use something different

Indeed, that hose will not hold up to oil well. Over a very short period of time, it will get cloudy as well as harden, becoming stiff and brittle. The pressure shouldn't be an issue, but it likely won't hold up well.

The only kind I would use that's clear is Tygon tubing. They make some industrial-grade clear tubing that would work well in those conditions. McMaster-Carr should have something available fairly cheap if you really want to use it. www.mcmaster.com
