I'm ready to watch you take that beating.

Probably will look good especially with a lift. Post some pics of the ride. Also maybe u can request a moderator to move this over to the modified 3rd gen forum. Most on stock r looking for the simple repair tips. I don't think I have the b&#$s to drill into my roof.

I'll get a full pic up of the truck tomorrow, and I think I will play around with photoshop and see how the two kinds will look.

OK...I'm ready to take a beating on the comments :)

Thoughts on putting chevy style clearance lights on my 3rd gen?
What are you trying to "clear" with the clearance lights?

I thought about doing it to mine, just don't have the balls to drill 5 holes in my roof without knowing if it will look good or look like crap.

Kyle, I like the idea. I've seen one third gen explorer in my town that had 5 individual bubble lights and the truck just looked OK. I think a lift would be needed to make them appropriate

Then again, with your grille guard/push bar, the lift may not be necessary

Alright boys, with all the suggestions I think I am dumb enough to try it haha.

I'm still leaning towards the chevy style, I've never been a fan of them but I think it would look better on the 3rd gen.

Thoughts of Chevy style vs. the Ford and lens color?(amber, smoke, clear)?

Thanks...If I do try this I will do a full install thread for everyone.

I would go with the amber. I like the ones in Xeek's thread. I don't know if they are Ford or Chevy style.

Looking forward to the pics...............................................

I do think I'd be better off with an Abmer lens.

To clear things up...Ford/Dodge style cab lights are the 5 separate lights.
Chevy style (the ones i posted a link to) are the two lights on the outside with the bar in the middle.

In that case, I would go with the amber lights and the Ford style!!

My vote is in Chevy amber, and a lift.

ford style with amber...........and a lift...

and i ran a lift + a 1.5" bodylift with stock 245/65s and it didnt look as bad as i had imagined, and no noticeable mpg loss...

I think this would look great if done right! i vote the ford style in amber!

I thought about this for a good half a second. I too would not have the ba**s to drill into my roof. I would do the teardrop shaped lights though. If it were me.

Alright, so on my way home from work I said to myself...why the F*@C not :D

So I made a stop at autobarn and bought the lights...just set them on top once i go home so you can take a quick look at them. Not sure when I'll get the chance to put them on.

Sorry for the crappy pics, but you get the general look, I actually think they'll come out good considering the truck is black so they don't look too odd.

Once I install them i'll do a separate thread for anyone who wants to try it after me and I'll update this one as well with the link to the new thread...

Thank boys

Going to give her a bath tomorrow.
