I just ran out to home depot and got myself a pair of clevis pins to use as swaybar disconnects. I probably should have researched this a little more ...but is a 7/16" x 2 1/2" pin thick enough to handle the load?? should i have gone with the 1/2" thick ones??

anybody??? help..

hahaha you gotta take the bolts with you! I ended up tappering the ends of my pins and reducing the radius a little so they slide in and out easy but are till snug.

Ford used a few different sway bar styles and sizes on the different year vehicles so your best bet is to take the bolts with you for sizing:)

I've been wanting to find out the same thing...i do know that the size of the bolt is an 18mm (i'm pretty sure at least). That that translates into i'm not sure...take the sway bar off, remove a bolt and take that as a reference? I'm wanting to do the same exact thing...

I did this on mine, and if I remember right, you need a 7/16" diameter pin/bolt/whatever you're gonna use.

Yes the head on the factory bolts are 18mm

Take the bushings and metal collar with you, take the bolt, and then look at the different pins. I spent about an hour in the hardware store getting everything I would need for the front and rear disco's, the total setup cost me about $20 and then I spent a while in front of the grinder to get everything to fit very tight while still being simple to pull out...

I used simple clevis pins, springs, washers, and cotter pins. Everyone does it a little different, but accomplish the same end result

allright..so it is the right size..i remeasured it today and it'll work....Im removing the rear sway bar so dont have to worry about disconnects...I also bought the cotter pins and already have washers.... :afro:
Total cost for all of this... $5.25 with tax...no lie... :D

That's how much mine cost me.... then I spent another $10 on the tethering system for the front to keep the sway bar outta the way.

Can anyone post a pic of there setup? Maybe 410? im thinking of doing this before my next trail run.....

when i install them this week i will try and take some pictures so i can help you out...i gotta hold up on the install cause im waiting for my exhaust system to come in, then just do both at the same time as well as install my tow hooks up front...will get some pics of that too
