I have a 2014 exp it has been back to the dealer 8 times for the climate control from the first day nothing worked properly on ac hot air even with auto temp set @ 74d . the have made 2 updates now auto temp you turn it on your not able to turn it off. If you read own man for it does not do what it says I have been in touch with ford all they do send back to dealer . now it takes 20min to get any heat this is the first out of 11 fords with auto temp control that is junk any one else have trouble with climate control on 2014 thanks

I have 14 Sport, no issues with the climate control system so far after 3 weeks.

If they can't fix it after 3 tries isn't it considered a Lemon Law vehicle?

Do you have any update? I have a 2013 with the same problem. When first purchased I could turn the auto temp control on and off by just pushing the auto button but not anymore. Except for changing the temperature, the only way it can be turned off is by selecting another function or changing fan speed.

I pick-up my truck on Friday ford called and told me that if it doesn't give a code they won't do anything beach ford told them there is a problem butt they don't care 11 new ford products in 15 years time for change going to go to KEA on Monday this started last august enough is enough ford has changed not for the best 43.000.00 for xlt ??????????????????

no more problems with climate control traded for 2014 edge let some one else deal with it I have owned 3 exp that was the last one lot of problems my edge is 2014 with every option and all wheel drive

So you traded a 2014 Explorer for a 2014 Edge with the same climate control system? That must have been a costly 'fix'. What happened with the KIA you were looking at? FYI, I also am not able to turn OFF the 'Auto' when 'Climate' is on. Not an issue though as I always have it set on 'Auto'.

I had a Focus loaner while mine was at the dealer and I could not turn the "auto" on and off. Ford must have changed it with one of the updates. My biggest complaint is with the fan speeds. Fan doesn't run at the speed it should for the engine and cabin temperature. Sometimes it wouldn't change speeds up or down without doing it manually. Remote start would always run on high even with a cold engine. Ended up taking remote start off of "auto" but then the heated seats and steering wheel wouldn't work. Within the past week the fan speed issue has corrected itself. Works fine, just don't know why or for how long.

I assume the high speed on remote is to send what little heat there is and is building up into the empty cabin. When you get in to start driving, the fan speed drops so as not to blow this cool air on the occupants. Then once the engine has warmed up enough, the fan will then speed up to blow the warm air. Makes perfect sense to me.

My Auto Climate on 2011 XLT will switch off when climate control is on, but then I don't have remote start or the Sony system and display.

Initially, of course, there is no heat but the high fan speed will extract what little heat builds up. Most people using remote start will let it run for 5 to 15 minutes or so and by that time there will be warmer air. Don't forget that the engine is also running at higher RPM's on remote start. It is working as designed and in my opinion that is the way it should work and is a very well thought out and designed system. The different fan speeds reflect the two different situations, as they should.

The problem has been fixed and without another trip to the dealer. I have turned the remote start climate control off and just leave the regular system in "auto". Everthing seems to be working properly including the heated seats and steering wheel.

I'm sure there's a reason. As Peter said, even if the air is only slightly warmer it may help with defrosting. And even if it doesn't, why do you care what speed the fans are on during remote start, when you aren't in the vehicle? The second you get inside and push the START button they slow down.

Perhaps this also helps with any condensation issues.

There is no heat. As soon as the engine starts with remote start the fan is on high. It does not do this on a normal start with the climate control set to auto. Sorry, but Peter's explaination doesn't make sense to me. If there is a reason for it doing this what is it? No guessing or assumptions. I would like to know. I think Ford could install a system that works better than this. If they can't then don't install it. Why do I care? I don't like the noise or the cold air blowing around when I get in the vehicle. Maybe not on your vehicle, but on mine it apparently caused other problems that have gone away since the remote start setting was turned off.
