Clunking in 4 wheel with brown wire mod?

I did a brown wire mod on my 99 Sport in October of last year, and have been very happy with it except for one thing: when spinning in the mud in 4 wheel, whether in low or high, there is a loud clunking in the drivetrain, not uniformly, just kind of at random. Anyone else have this problem with the brown wore mod?

I doubt it has anyhting to do with the brown wire mod.... Does it happen when you're turning sharpish?

no, not really, even just going straight. I had the thought that it was trying to kick itself into 4 wheel, like it used to in "auto" mode, but that's completely bypassed, it's already locked into 4 wheel. Also, it's not all the time, just when there is a load on, like it's trying to climb and is spinning.
