clunking in front end

I just have a quick question. I have a clunking in my front end when I brake and turn the wheels. If you get under the explorer and look at the front diff while turning the wheel you can see the drivetrain physically move up and down. Any ideas what it might me? It is a 91 EB. And the hubs are not locked and not in 4wd

Radius arm bushings....take it to the shop, big job to replace...get poly replacements if you can

yup it is the radius arm bushing. after getting it replaced you will need an alignment too

I also get something like that clunking, I get a clunk sometimes if I brake and turn at the same time,really only if I back up then pull forward and brake.Is that the same thing? If so how much does this job cost? Im assuming I cant do it myself..Or I really dont want to?

Hey Jeremy, is yours coming from the front or back? Sounds like the normal rearend "pop"..

Nah Im pretty sure its coming from the front..It doesnt happen often though..Next time it does Ill try to see exactly where its coming from.

Mines been doing it for a few thousand miles. I knew it was the radius arm bushings, but when I got an estimate it was $40 bucks for poly bushings, and $297 for labor. It sucks when a $40 part costs $300 to replace. What if I don't replace them? What will happen to my front end? Is it the radius arm hitting the frame because the bushing is completley gone inside? Thanks
