clunking noise in front passenger side wheel

I have a clunking noise in my front passenger side wheel, most noticeable when going over bumps or turning the wheel towards the right. How can I tell if this is a tie rod end, ball joint, cv joint, etc. I jacked the car up and tried moving the wheel at 3 & 9 o'clock and 6 & 12 o'clock positions and didn't notice much movement. Also put a bar under the wheel and tried to lift, but nothing noticeable. How do I pinpoint the bad part. I hate to just start replacing parts. This is a 2000 explorer.

check your front sway bar end links. if they're bad/broken/missing it will be obvious.

Ditto. Usually the first suspension part to fail. If so, replace both.

Also, check the sway bar frame bushings while you're there.
Rear end links and bushings are also known to cause issues.
